A rumour has been spreading around social media that Snapchat is getting rid of its memories feature. Is it true?
In 2016, Snapchat introduced one of its most popular features – Memories. It quickly became a favourite amongst users, allowing people to store all of their Snaps in one place like a virtual photo album without having to save them to your phone camera roll.
Looking back on Snapchat Memories at a later date is something everyone loves to do, so when a rumour started spreading on Twitter this week that Snapchat is getting rid of Memories, people went into a panic.
So, is Snapchat actually getting rid of Memories?

What are Snapchat Memories?
Snapchat Memories is a feature that allows you to save all of your Snaps in one place so you can view them again later.
Stories and normal Snaps can both be saved to Memories by tapping the save button at the bottom of the screen. You can also save your whole story as a Memory by heading to your profile.
Every year, Snapchat will show you the Snaps you saved to your Memories on that exact date, allowing users to reminisce on past experiences.
You can also re-send old Snaps to your friends or post them to your Story.
Twitter rumours say Snapchat is deleting Memories
A rumour has been spreading around Twitter over the past few days that Snapchat will be deleting Memories forever on December 1st 2020.
“Snapchat getting rid of the memories feature is the dumbest thing i’ve ever heard,” said another.
Another person said: “Someone said Snapchat is deleting the memories feature starting December 1st. That’s legit the only reason why I still have it so I hope they aren’t being for real.”
So are the rumours actually true? Let’s explore whether Snapchat is really getting rid of Memories.

Is Snapchat deleting Memories?
- As of November 18th 2020, Snapchat has not revealed any plans to delete Memories.
Despite the rumours, Snapchat has never actually said that they are going to get rid of Stories. Until Snapchat make an official statement, you can assume that the rumours are false.
Fake news is a big problem on social media today, and misinformation can easily be spread online. At the moment, the rumours have no real evidence, so it doesn’t look like Snapchat is removing Memories any time soon.
