On January 10th, 2021, it was confirmed that the Sex and the City franchise would be rebooted in the form of a 10-episode limited series.
The new show, which is titled And Just Like That…, will be coming to the HBO Max streaming service and comes after six seasons of the original HBO TV series as well as two feature films.

Why is Kim Cattrall not returning?
- The reason behind Kim Cattrall’s absence from the Sex and the City reboot has not been officially confirmed.
However, according to W Magazine, when the now-cancelled Sex and the City 3 was being touted, Kim Cattrall reportedly declined to appear in the film over her character’s storyline which would have seen Samantha Jones receive sexting and nude pictures from Miranda’s teenage son.
The actress, now 64, has also reportedly been engaged in a long-running feud with co-star Sarah Jessica Parker which dates back as far as 2004 according to Elle.
Speaking to the Women’s Prize for Fiction podcast in December 2020, Kim Cattrall said that her time on the show “was a lot of fun and I loved it.”
“I’m lucky enough to have choice, not that I haven’t worked for it, but I have it,” Cattrall continued. “It’s something I feel very lucky to have and I’m very protective of it. I wouldn’t be any good doing something that I really didn’t want to do.”
It’s unclear at the time of writing whether Kim’s character, Samantha Jones, will be written out of the TV reboot or if she’ll be recast.
