The Brazilian has barely been getting a game with Los Blancos this season, and unfortunately for Tottenham, he isn’t currently free to leave the club.
Indeed, Romano has said that Madrid have no intention of changing their squad at the moment after the departure of Luka Jovic, but the journalist was quick to add that everything could change as the window ticks towards deadline day.
“Yes, he is rumoured as an opportunity obviously because he’s not playing at Real Madrid,” Romano said.
“He’s a player that Tottenham scouts have been looking at for many years, since he was at Porto he has always been appreciated. But at the moment, Real Madrid have no intention of changing the situation of the team. After Luka Jovic they want to wait a bit to understand what is going on with their players, with their squad before selling players or loaning out players.
“We will see, in the last week I think we will understand more about Militao and Real Madrid, because at the moment there is nothing advanced yet with Tottenham.”
It seems as though we may not be seeing Militao announced as a Tottenham player in the coming days.
Spurs are certainly in the market for a centre-back, and Militao is a player they clearly like, but it seems as though Madrid are going to play hardball with them here.
The player himself can’t be too happy about this either, as Romano says, he’s not playing at the moment for Madrid, and at 22 years old, it’s vital that he’s playing regularly so that he can develop his skills.
This one isn’t on the cards at the moment, but as ever, things can change very quickly.
