Graham Roberts has suggested that Jose Mourinho was ‘crazy’ not to play Dele Alli for Tottenham Hotspur against Fulham yesterday.
Alli sat on the bench for Tottenham throughout the contest, even when they were chasing a goal.
Mourinho actually only used two substitutes, as Spurs stumbled to a 1-1 draw against Fulham.
The Portuguese boss first withdrew Tanguy Ndombele, with Erik Lamela coming on, before Carlos Vinicius was thrown on in the final stages.
Alli cut a crestfallen figure at full-time, as Spurs ignored him yet again.
The attacking midfielder even made a post on Instagram which seemed to sum up his feelings after the game.
And Roberts felt that Mourinho made a big mistake by leaving Alli on the bench for so long.
Mourinho had moved to publicly praise Alli after his last performance against Marine so his decision not to play him was a surprise last night.
Tottenham certainly could have benefitted from Alli’s link-up play and creativity in the final stage, as they actually created very little late on, as they looked to regain an advantage.
Spurs’ failure to win means that they now sit in sixth place in the Premier League table.
