Leeds United fans have seen the funny side after a report emerged claiming that Nottingham Forest wanted to sign Stuart Dallas and Kalvin Phillips in 2019.
The Athletic report that the Leeds duo were on a pretty ambitious wishlist for the Midlands outfit.
That would have been the season when Leeds missed out on promotion to the Premier League when they were beaten in the Champions play-off semi-finals.
Even though Leeds suffered heartache, Phillips’ stock, in particular, went through the roof and it even saw then-promoted Aston Villa trying to snap him up during that summer.
So, on one hand, Premier League Villa are trying to sign Phillips for big bucks and, on the other hand, Forest are trying to secure a loan deal for him.
Given all of that, the Leeds faithful cannot believe what they are reading and it perhaps sums up the mess Forest are in.
Leeds fans are, unfortunately, too familiar with knowing what it’s like supporting a badly-run club, and Forest are just that and have been for too long.
Nonetheless, this is how Leeds supporters reacted to those Dallas-Phillips and Forest rumours:
