Mesut Ozil has taken a step closer to sealing his Arsenal exit, David Ornstein reports in the Athletic.
Ozil’s wages have continuously proven a stumbling block in negotiations, as he has looked for a route out of Arsenal, but he is now willing to not take his full wage to seal an exit from the Emirates Stadium.
Ozil would be open to tearing up his contract at Arsenal this month and leaving ‘money on the table’ in the hope that the Gunners will agree to let him go.

The German’s decision means that he is now closer to reaching a compromise with Arsenal, which will allow him to move elsewhere.
Ozil, who was once hailed as ‘unbelievable’ by Gunners goalkeeper Bernd Leno (Goal), has previously seemingly been reluctant to take a pay cut to join a rival team.

However, after spending the last six months on the sidelines, it seems that the Arsenal man is now determined to move elsewhere.
If he is to depart, the Athletic report that both DC United and Fenerbahce are the two leading options for him to sign for.
