Rangers could be set to add to their squad this month as they draw nearer to the league title
Rangers are believed to be keen on Coventry City youngster Gustavo Hamer.
With Steven Davis having recently turned 36, Steven Gerrard could be looking for midfield reinforcements in the summer.
A record of 21 wins from 23 games has seen the Ibrox side take a 21-point lead in the Scottish Premiership, with no points dropped in the league since September.
As reported by Press Association, Rangers are interested in the 23-year-old but any move is more likely to take place in the summer.
They say that the Sky Blues are eager to hold on to the defensive midfielder, who has scored four goals in 21 appearances since joining the English Championship side in July 2020.
Hamer, who has three caps for the Dutch under-20s, previously played for Feyenoord, Dordrecht and PEC Zwolle.
The Brazilian-born player already has experience of playing at Ibrox, having been given 45 minutes in last summer’s pre-season friendly.
Rangers ran out 2-0 victors on the day thanks to second-half goals from Joe Aribo and Connor Goldson.
Gerrard’s immediate focus is Sunday’s fixture at Fir Park against Motherwell, as they aim to maintain their momentum in the title race.
Ibrox legend Ally McCoist believes Gerrard is in for a memorable reaction “if and when” Rangers finish the job.
Speaking on talkSPORT, McCoist said: “I’m telling you right now, he will be thinking he’s in the biggest and best job on the planet, because he’s probably, I don’t know, maybe six weeks away from, if he didn’t realise, he’s hopefully six weeks away from realising the effect that he’s going to have on so many people.
“And it’s going to be unbelievable. And I hope that Steven reaches that position, and I would imagine that even he might be a little bit surprised at the effect it’s going to have on so many people if and when he crosses that line.”
