The Trophée des Champions is effectively France’s version of the Community Shield in England.

It sees the winners of Ligue 1 and the winners of the Coupe de France battle it out for what is basically a French Super Cup.

The match against Marseille was only Pochettino’s third game in charge since replacing Thomas Tuchel at the Parc des Princes.

After hearing the news, some Tottenham fans on Twitter seem quite upset.

Additionally, perhaps the disappointment of drawing to Fulham added to their sadness surrounding the situation.

PSG were only partaking in the showpiece event thanks to the work of Tuchel, his predecessor.
